Reflection

For the first 3 photographs and the last (with the fan) I used the self timer and balanced the camera on my bookshelf. For the 3 "twin" portraits I held the camera out as I stood next to a mirror while experimenting with the flash and different camera angles.

The pictures with the black backdrop were taken in my room, in front of my windows. Unfortunately this was done in the afternoon so some sunlight can be seen through the curtains.

The first 3 were my favorites because they were meant to embody each of the different spirits from Charles Dicken's "A Christmas Carol".

The first is "the Ghost of Christmas Past". She is often seen wearing red (as I did). The pointsetta represent past Christmas traditions, because they were more common in homes around Christmastime in the past.

The second is "the Ghost of Christmas Present". He is described as being jolly and, physically, very similar to Santa Claus. I forced myself to laugh as I waited for the picture to take, to show his jollyness, and wore a Santa hat, to represent his similarity to Santa.

The last one is "the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come". He is described as wearing a cloak and wearing a very dark figure. I've always likened this character to the Grim Reaper, which is why I chose to wear a black cloak.

In each picture I am wearing skull and crossbone earrings, dark eye make-up, and a shimmery, white eyeshadow all over my face to represent death and show that they are ghosts.

Each picture is also meant to represent a different side of myself: my serious, logical side ("the Ghost of Christmas Past"), my silly side ("the Ghost of Christmas Present"), and my dark, dramatic side ("the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come"). Together these all represent me because I've loved this story since I was little (my favorite movie remake being "Mickey's Christmas Carol").
